The Rice House is an enticing Balinese fantasy villa, nestled on a lush hillside, with dramatic views across Chaweng bay, the north coast of Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan beyond. Designed by the multi-talented owner of Eden Rock Villa, and newly constructed on an adjacent plot, The Rice House features a distinctive Balinese thatched roof in the style of traditional rice barns, and oozes luxury and taste.

Reached by a meandering pathway and wooden bridge, The Rice House is entered through antique hand carved Balinese doors that guard the walled garden. A short staircase leads up to the ground floor air-conditioned double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, mini-bar, safe, and satellite TV. The 3 seat water hyacinth sofa and coffee table set, together with the bed, enjoy fantastic sea views through huge floor to ceiling picture windows and concertina glass doors.

Steps run up the side of the villa to a gushing Balinese stone-carved fountain, with a lawn beyond, to the main raised ground floor level of The Rice House. Outside, a detached Balinese bathroom with a high thatched roof, and sandstone clad walls, is two steps away from the main entrance. The living room is spacious and bright, with wooden beamed ceiling, and large windows on 3 sides. The largest windows to the front of the villa run the entire length of the wall, and fully open in a concertina, onto the large covered balcony with al-fresco dining for 6, which is orientated to maximise the sea views. Adjacent to the balcony is a large sand-washed patio that plays host to the infinity-edge pool, which melts into the endless sea beyond. The pool patio can also be entered through concertina doors on the facing living room, and includes a selection of Colonial loungers, sun-beds, as well another teak outdoor dining table for 6 with a large parasol.

The open-plan living room includes a state of the art kitchen with full-size oven, built-in stainless steel microwave, large fridge-freezer, hob with extractor hood, and an enticing range of appliances. A wooden breakfast bar seats two on swiveling bar chairs, and a 3 piece water hyacinth suite with coffee table faces the awesome sea view. High ceilings add to the sense of space, and a constant breeze is ensured with 3 ceiling fans. A top of the range stereo system mingles with Balinese art and antiques, and allows you to set the mood.

A wide wooden spiral staircase leads up to the sumptuous master bedroom, where the full impact of the thatched roof can be appreciated. Soaring ceilings dome down to the polished wood floor in a swathe of exposed thatch, with a romantic King-size bed enveiled in mosquito nets. Another 3 piece water hyacinth suite with coffee table faces stupendous sea views beyond the vast balcony that also opens fully onto the room through a concertina glass wall. The master bedroom is fully thatched except for the rear, wood paneled wall that hides concealed air-conditioning, and a walk-in wardrobe. Equipped with satellite TV, DVD, personal safe, dressing table, lamps, spotlights, and ceiling fans, the zenith of the villa is difficult to leave. A double daybed overlooks the pool through a window in the thatch, and an antique wood carved sofa on the balcony completes the mood of absolute indulgence.

The villa has a friendly and experienced team of staff who are on call 24 hours a day during your visit, supported by the resident manager, who lives in a wooden house guarding the property at the roadside. The staff will cater to your every need, from arranging in-house spa treatments, to babysitting, or sightseeing tours.
